Diagnosis comes before repair. Damp, cracking or movement in traditional buildings often has a cause — a failed gutter, cement render, a blocked drain, ground levels raised against a wall — and repairing the symptom without addressing that wastes the client's money.

Materials are chosen for compatibility. Lime mortar, breathable finishes and matched stone allow a building to continue functioning as it was built to, rather than trapping moisture behind modern materials.
